Welcome! I know you've already read about the "professional" me, but who is really behind this website?
Why I created this website
The creation of this website was inspired by my own academic, career, and personal growth. I realized that there is a divide between administrative/instructional design/professional development "experts" and faculty content "experts." I want to break down this divide and help faculty translate their teaching and research skills into quality course design that reflects not only their content expertise, but their unique perspective, passions, and purpose.
I tend to shy away from discussions about "callings" because they can (1) be alienating to those who do not feel that they have a solid "calling" or "purpose"; and, (2) imply that we are static in our interests, passions, and goals throughout the life course. However, I believe that my "purpose" or "calling" (in the broadest sense possible) is to use my passion for learning, knowledge, and personal growth to inspire others to build community, create personal and social change, and connect their personal and professional selves into a purpose-driven, holistic work-life balance.
What will I do here?
I want to document my trials, tribulations, and successes as an early career higher education professional teaching, working, and thriving amidst the changes in higher education. I want to share what I'm reading, the mistakes I have made, the changes I implement in my work, and my personal and professional growth.
I want to share the skills I have built with you and help others to figure out how to identify their goals, strengths, and weaknesses, grow their skillsets, connect with other like-minded folks, and create a career with PURPOSE.
I create quick, easily implementable strategies to improve your pedagogies right now, offer one-on-one and group coaching, and am developing higher-level online courses for those who are ready to seriously increase their skills.
